G.A.I.N. brings together voices that rarely share the same room: regulators, board-level executives, and institutional practitioners with real skin in the game.
Overview
For its fourth edition, G.A.I.N. went virtual and global: bringing together former regulators, banking practitioners, and infrastructure specialists to examine what institutional-grade virtual asset custody actually requires from banks today.
Highlights
Virtual asset custody is no longer a future consideration for banks. It is an active governance, compliance, and operational decision sitting on the desks of risk committees and technology leaders right now. Yet most financial institutions are still navigating it without a clear framework for what “ready” even looks like. The fourth G.A.I.N. was built around that gap. Bryan Stirewalt and Dr. Bhaskar Dasgupta drew from their paper on bank readiness to set the regulatory baseline. Muhammad Ali Malik grounded the conversation in how custody decisions are actually made inside a major regional bank. Gebhard Scherrer added the infrastructure layer: what technology choices underpin compliant, scalable custody and where implementation risks tend to surface. The room was wider than previous editions. The conversation wasn’t.
